Sales target calculator: how many leads do you need?

Work back from your revenue target to the deals, leads and marketing budget it will take.

Your numbers

Results are estimates to guide decisions, not financial advice. Your numbers stay in your browser.

Plan from the target, not the budget

Most marketing budgets are set as a percentage of last year. Working back from the revenue you need shows whether that budget can actually get you there.

Deals needed = revenue target ÷ sale value
Leads needed = deals ÷ close rate
Marketing budget = leads × cost per lead

If the numbers look too big

  • Raise the close rate: better follow-up is usually cheaper than more leads.
  • Raise the sale value: packages and premium options.
  • Lower cost per lead: sharper targeting and pages that convert.

Questions

Should I include repeat business?

No. Enter only the new revenue marketing needs to win; repeat and referral revenue comes on top.

What close rate should I use?

Your own from the last 6–12 months. If you do not track it, count deals won and divide by enquiries received in the same period.

Does the budget include agency fees?

No. It covers media spend to generate the leads. Add creative, content and agency costs on top.

Is my data saved?

No. The calculation runs in your browser. Nothing is sent unless you choose to email yourself the result.
