Price positioning calculator: premium, mid-market or value?

See where your price sits against competitors, and what a price rise would do to your profit.

Your numbers

Results are estimates to guide decisions, not financial advice. Your numbers stay in your browser.

Price is a positioning decision

Where you price tells buyers what to expect. A small rise often adds more profit than a big increase in sales, because the extra money goes straight to the bottom line.

Price index = your price ÷ average competitor price × 100
New profit = units × (1 − sales lost) × (price × (1 + rise) − cost per unit)
Sales you can lose and still break even = rise ÷ (margin + rise)

Before you raise prices

  • Make the value visible: proof, quality, service and guarantees.
  • Raise prices for new customers first, or add a premium option.
  • Train your sales team to explain the difference, not to discount.

Questions

How is premium, mid-market or value decided?

We use your price against the competitor average: more than 10% above is premium, more than 10% below is value, and in between is mid-market.

Will I lose customers if I raise prices?

Some, sometimes. The tool shows how many you could lose and still make the same profit; it is usually more than people expect.

Which competitors should I include?

The ones your buyers actually compare you with, not every company in the category.

Is my data saved?

No. The calculation runs in your browser. Nothing is sent unless you choose to email yourself the result.
